LANGLEY CITY
LANGLEY CITY
ABOUT LANGLEY CITY
The City of Langley takes pride in having one of the Lower Mainland’s busiest industrial and service commercial land bases. A government that is very pro-development continues to get high reviews for how quickly approvals are granted and for having one of the lowest commercial-to-residential tax ratios in Metro Vancouver. Due to the city’s density, there is a focus on property redevelopment, causing Langley City to design the Brownfield Redevelopment Strategy. a strategy that revitalizes vacant buildings while increasing developer profit and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the city.
In the center of the Lower Mainland economic region is the 10-square-kilometer urban center known as the City of Langley. The City of Langley provides residents with all the conveniences of a large urban area, including fantastic shopping and dining, top-notch educational and entertainment options, numerous recreational possibilities, and community events, in addition to more than 346 acres of parkland!
Originally called “Innes Corners,” Langley City eventually went by the name “Langley Prairie.” The neighborhood along (Old) Yale Road grew into a significant business and service hub that drew visitors from all around the area. Due to community demand for better levels of service as a result of continued growth, the City of Langley, which is next to the Township of Langley, was formed as a separate entity on March 15, 1955.
